Vectorize Low Quality Scanned Image

Starting with a low quality print version of a comic, breathe new life into it by converting it into a clean SVG that works well with digital comic reader applications

Phase 1 |

Before using vector conversion tools, I upscale the scanned image by 4x with a custom ComfyUI workflow using SDXL. This higher resolution sampling provides much better results when first converting the image, especially for hand drawn art with bold outlines

Phase 2 |

After initially processing the 4x upscaled image, a few minor tweaks are then made using Adobe Illustrator to reduce some of the smoothing in an effort to retain the original handwriting style. Click the image below to view the finished SVG in a new tab
